Christmas or the "mixed" culture

Several years ago, when I walked near a kindergarten attached to a Shinto shrine, I saw a notice about a Christmas party that was going to be held in the classes of the kindergarten. I felt it was strange and funny. I suppose the children and their parents didn't see any contradiction in celebrating Christmas on the site of the shrine. I don't dislike those people and the "mixed" culture.
